Here’s a short list of instructions to get you started recording your first article for KC cast.
The most important thing to keep in mind while writing your article is that you are writing the words to be heard and not read. There is a big difference in the way you write versus the way you speak. For some good tips on this subject check out the following link.

Now that you have written your masterpiece it’s time to record. If you know how to record to your computer already go ahead and use whatever software you are familiar with and output a decent quality mp3. Then follow the instructions on odeo.com to sign up for an account and upload your article.
If you don’t have any software or previous knowledge of recording, no worries. All you need is a microphone hooked up to your computer. Point your favorite web browser to odeo.com and follow these instructions.
1. Sign up for an account at odeo.com
2. Go to the Odeo Studio
3. Follow the instructions to record (or upload) and manage your audio.
4. If you need any help refer to the Odeo Help Forum
You can also use odeo to find and listen to some great podcasts.
While recording there are some simple rules to follow that will make our life easier in editing and make you sound like an old pro.
1. Pace yourself, it’s not a race and you don’t have to make it one. Just take your time.
2. At the end of every paragraph, pause for 3-5 seconds. This will give the editor some time to cut to an audio clip if it is needed and then segway nicely back into your voice.
3. If you do happen to mess up then stop, say the word EDIT very clearly, then go back to the first word of the sentence that you messed up and start the sentence over.
After recording (or uploading) you need to notify the KC Cast staff
You can do this either via myspace message or email that your article is ready for review. Just send the message or email with the link to the audio on odeo.com so the staff can review and possibly download it for editing.
If there is any additional audio that could support your podcast like a song from the band you are talking about or several songs that could be used for background sounds please upload them (with permission of the artist) to your odeo.com account or make sure to provide a link where the songs or other audio can be downloaded.
All audio that you record will be subject to review and edit by the distortion staff. This means that any section of the content you record could be removed at the discretion of the editor.
That’s it, all you need to know to make a killer audio article and get your stuff into KC cast. So get to it and together we’ll put some new life back into the KC music scene.
